ef ég væri hér?
(if i were here…)
Hljóðfirring brings together and pulls apart three versions of home, in different places and times. Literally meaning ‘sound alienation’, or the way in which neighboring sounds become less similar, Hljóðfirring shows a melody carried between homes. This melody resonates differently in each place: the noisy traffic in The Hague brings out different elements of the theme than the frantic birdsong in Eyrarbakki. The most vulnerable expression of the melody is brought out in Heima, stripped of all outside influence. Together, the three parts travel between homes and ask how much our homes travel with us.
